Healthy spiced anise rolls
When I was a kid I loved soft buns with anise seeds. I always had them with a special cheese called brown cheese (tastes sweet and caramel- like), and a glass of milk.
These healthy spiced anise rolls are definitively inspired by my childhood memories of the soft buns with anise seeds. But my version have gone through a transformation(which has cracked them up..!) so that they are very quick to make (no yeast!), healthy and packed with protein and fibre. They turned out so soft, and yummy.
Healthy spiced anise rolls
These healthy spiced anise rolls are healthy, soft, small and yummy. AND ready to eat in 30 mins! Perfect as breakfast rolls, or an anyday healthy snack as they boost satiety (because of all the protein and fibre).
Ingredients (ca. 8-9 rolls):
100 grams / ca. 2 decilitres almond flour
20 grams/ 2 tablespoons coconut flour
2 teaspoons anise seeds
2 eggs, medium
0,5 dl water
2 tablespoons grape seed oil
2 tablespoons agave syrup (or honey)
1 teaspoon psyllium husk
1 pinch salt
Method:
- Blend the wet and dry ingredients in two different bowls.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, and mix well. Let rest a couple of minutes in the fridge.
- Form round buns, and press them down a little bit in the middle, with two fingers.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes in 175 degrees celsius, a bit below the middle in the oven.
- Cool down on a wire rack for ca. 15 minutes
The healthy spiced anise rolls are served perfectly by themselves, to afternoon tea, with blue cheese (As below. Turned out to be my favorite), or with greek yoghurt, mixed berries and sprinkled with honey.
Have a fantastic week!
